A good race, and an excellent result!
The paddle down to the lock was some of the quickest we've ever done, indicating the presence of a large stream. This was further reinforced by the time to beat of 7:06, set by LMBC, at a split of 1:48.3.
With a good rhythm off the start line, we settled onto a split of ~1:47 into first post corner. Excellent pushes were made round both first post and grassy, however the speed dropped off slightly down plough reach.
Coming out onto the reach, a good press was made round Ditton, and the boat speed started to increase after the railings. A good push from the White House built on this further, and resulted in a time of 7:04, winning by two seconds. Having lost to Pembroke by ~20s the previous week over 2x2k, to beat them by 6s was a great reflection of the progress made! Very excited to see where the term goes, more speed to come!
A fantastic race. We were all back in the boat after a week without a single full crew outing due to illness.
Despite the extremely strong stream on the day we settled into a very nice cruising rythrm and held strong for the first half of the course. We didn't quite have the same intensity on the Reach but brought it back with a wind at the end - even if I was holding on for dear life at that point.
Very satisfying to run into Orson and the rest of LMBC in the Fort afterwards when the results came out.

My first ever race as a senior! Delays meant a full de-boating at marshalling, which was compensated for by some great entertainment of other boats trying to marshal subsequently - highlight being when the Murrary Edwards boat named 'Licence to Kill' drifted downstream sideways into the stern of a poor Fitz boat.
Boat felt heavy between two subs and the stream conditions, and wasn't our finest race at all. But a good benchmark for what we hope to be a successful term. Onto Binson Head we roll...
