Terrible start from us. Equally bad from Cauis. Salvaged some sort of rhythm and slowly pulled away. Lesson learned which we absolutely took through to the second race!

Great start from us! Dead level with Jesus, and we worked for a much better rhythm than in the first race. Roughly level until about halfway down the course when we started to lose finesse and Jesus pull ahead by maybe half a length by 3/4 down the course. An enormous, irrecoverable overhead crab from Dhanya in 3 cements the outcome but I am confident it made no difference to result of the race.

Beat Downing II
What a first race! Slightly shaky off the start, and Downing gained 2/3 length. Nevertheless, we settled into our rhythm and started to steadily gain on Downing, who apparently ‘are big but row like an octopus’. Drew level with 50m to the line and kept pushing through to win by 1/3 length. Very fun first race to cox, and proof that belief in your rhythm makes you go faster!
