A fun head course race, primarily for town crews. Claims to be the bumps course, as rowed by nobody, ever.

Fuck. Me.
8 minutes I said. 2.1k is an 8 minute race I said.
YEAH EXCEPT IT WASN'T 2.1K. XPRESS LIED.
It was something closer to 2.4k. Combined with one of the worst headwinds I have raced into and some scratchy rowing, this was absolutely fucking miserable.
Oh well. First full row of the bumps course this term. At least we are now prepared for rowing over to take a fucking long time. We did try. I cannot fault the effort put in. I just wish the effort was somewhat vaguely maybe together.

Our coach was out with injured back,

Our cox had never raced before,
Yet under pressure didn't crack.
Our rowing started right on track,
Our splits were fast, our rhythm sure,
With Jesus Rugby at our fore,
And Maggie scum behind our back.
But when at last we came round Ditton,
The headwind really started hittin'.
We slowed down twenty splits at once.
Vlad made up distances to go,
"A hundred meters left"? Fat chance.
It made us accelerate, though.
