A great race to be able to follow. The crew showed real determination. They set off about 25 seconds after Tit hall and by the start of the reach were about two length off. They kept closing and after a bit of encouraging the umpire to order them to concede the line by Alex B the crew drew level by the white house. They finished 2 or 3 seats up on Tit hall.
Our first M4 on Lent Bumps since 2016.
Worth getting sunburnt to watch.
Nice weather and very enjoyable race. We were calm, we rowed together, and we rowed at a rate we're comfortable with. We shaved off [redacted] seconds since Newnham Heads and are making great progress.
Hearing length updates (against Trinity Hall M3) on the reach, followed by having visual on them near the white house, gave us some well-timed motivation to finish off strong.
An absolute privilege to watch. The crew started strong and stayed relatively together throughout. By the time we reached grassy, Tit Hall were about 4 lengths away, this closed to 2 lengths by Ditton. I have no doubt that this kept the crew motivated and kept them pushing. Tit hall took their time to concede the racing line but M4 were inevitable. Making up the 30-40 second head-start, M4 finished about half a length up on the other crew.
All members of M4 should be very proud. As the first M4 in lent bumps since 2016 they've got an incredibly promising campaign ahead of them.

An interesting arrangement with the cox becoming stroke seat and the coach coxing but it worked and they got on - our first M3 to do so since 2022.
I may have lost George's slider on the way home but in my defence I did find it again behind Combined while leaving with M4.
Alex W, myself and Zara all timed the race to the same figure to within a tenth of a second which we are all proud of.
'Twas the day of the Getting On Race.
Our new stroke set a challenging pace.
We did not row our best,
But we passed this first test,
And left Corpus M2 in their place.
Our rowing was down in the dumps;
No power — a boat-load of chumps.
Our cox became stroke,
New cox was our coach,
But at least we got on to Bumps!
