1st men's VIII, Lents 1st Div

3rd in Category
Time: 6:49
A big improvement upon last week. We had much better mentality as a crew, although Csongi's rate 42 start didn't give us much choice.
Only way is up from here.

2nd men's VIII, Lents 2nd Div

6th in Category, 2nd M2
Time: 7:29
amazing how fast you can go when you put your strokes in the water (Will)
Honestly not too bad all things considered (and there were a LOT of things to consider). Not my cleanest race as I was ill and rowing on a foreign side. BUT that means there's an easy 10+ seconds to knock off our time once I learn how to row strokeside. Overall, we still made progress from last week and can bring that into the next race (Sam Pearson)

3rd men's VIII, Lower VIIIs

9th in Category, 2nd M3
Time: 7:55
The distance: kilometres two;
Our first race together, it's true.
We rowed at rate thirty,
Not scrappy nor dirty,
And went over at just below two.

A really good race, and start to the term. In the first half of the race especially, the technical improvements from the week could really be felt, especially in the sit of the boat. The power slightly came off in the 3rd quarter, but I am sure as the term progresses this will become less of an issue, and mainly due to fatigue.
A brilliant push to finish in the last few hundred metres of the race.
Very happy.

I thoroughly enjoyed that race, it felt much shorter than 8 minutes. Probably because we were actually rowing together in time. Sadly, we didn't make up all of the one-minute time gap we had with Maggie M3 ahead of us. George's hopes of screaming "concede the racing line" will have to wait. But we were faster than we expected and smoother than we feared. Good practice for the Getting On Race! (Nick Nelson)

1. M3 racing in Newnham...

Apparently it's been retrospectively decided we rowed terribly and were 'whirring around'. Onwards and upwards I guess? (Zara Bek)

1st women's VIII, Lents 1st Div Take II

5th in Category
Time: 8:01
Always fills you with confidence when Bomber changes the crew order between races (Anne why do you row like that sometimes??? I love you dearly and will forever treasure you and your hat but oh dear lord).

At the lock: yeah yeah yeah we can do 7:50 if we actually row together this time. Just need to push a bit harder.

Half way down first post: 2:02

Safe to say it wasn't quite there. There was nothing left for the second race.

(Totally didn't blow up)

4th men's VIII, Lower VIIIs

17th in Category, fastest M4
Time: 8:20
Clean race, massively better than anyone expected after just 4 outings as a crew and only 1.5hrs total rowing together at rate 22+.

For some reason there was 30sec where I started rowing legs+body only. Fixed it as soon as situation awareness came back online, but in the future it's probably a good idea to ensure I don't do something stupid even when it's offline.

2nd women's VIII, Lower VIIIs

5th in Category, 9th W2
Time: 8:37
Subbed into W2 as their standard cox was otherwise engaged, thoroughly enjoyed the race. The pieces on the way down were rapid, and this was reflected in the quick start, getting down to 2:00 ish. Reasonable corners were taken (if I may say so myself), although the M3 race beforehand gave for good practice. An excellent push was made into the finish, resulting in a strong time, only 14s behind 1st place in the category.  (George Moger-Taylor)
