1st men's VIII, Senior VIIIs

3rd college VIII
Time: 14:20

It was a good race overall. We did exactly what Bomber asked us to do: we enjoyed racing. We held a strong 34.5 rhythm throughout, and on the rare occasions when splits or rate dropped, we responded promptly to Connor's excellent calls.

Coming 3rd is our best result in Fairbairns since COVID-19, and we’re very pleased with it. That said, being just 1.8 seconds behind Jesus is slightly annoying—especially since we caught up with Fitz M1 despite a time gap. Unfortunately, they didn’t concede the racing line through First Post Reach, so we’ll never know if we could have been faster than Jesus or not (we like to think we could have). We have Fitz in front of us in Mays, so this was at least a good practice for bumping them.

The whole crew ends the term on a high, excited to have our injured and novice rowers racing with us in Lents.

Thanks to everyone who came down to the river to watch—it was incredibly encouraging to hear 'Yeah FaT!' echoing all the way from Goldie to Grassy Corner.

We have a very quick VIII, so we entered in the hope to win. Overall we put in a good effort, but
the catches became slower and the finishes became shorter towards the second half of the race.
Down first post reach our splits went up 5s which was regrettable. Overall still a solid race and the
the best senior women’s VIII I have been part of. (Anne Schreuder)
I never wrote a race report apparently. Probably because I was too drunk/hungover. Sophie was in for Lizzie who managed to damage a rib a week prior to racing.

We did the VIII, it was going quite well with an absolutely monstrous stream carrying us and some clear fitness gains showing in the splits. Footage shows it started to go wrong around the P&E although the splits didn't get worse there... then in the gut it went bang. Overall it was strong and we made a valiant attempt but the result is disappointing to me. I feel we should have done better than that.
(Totally didn't blow up)

1st men's novice VIII, Lower VIIIs

11th 2nd College VIII
Time: 17:05
Questionable technique from the stroke in this race, catching an overhead crab around green dragon bridge (sorry boys). Apart from that we had some nice relaxed rowing and a fairly decent race. Thanks to Nicholas for subbing in and doing a great job. In the end we managed to beat a couple M1 boats even with the crab/crash. (George Howard)
This race felt good. Far more relaxed than Novice Fairbairns the day before. The unfortunate crab and crash cost us on time but the rest of the race was rowed well. Fortunately, we got a lovely video to remember (almost parking in a boat bay by Green Dragon - https://youtu.be/d4ICCZ7B3Nc?si=Rsw0UdN0kBkiQ_Vh around 20 seconds in), courtesy of the drone flying overhead.
