We had a nice row up to Chesterton followed by a lot of sitting around, and a nice row up to the start and then even more sitting around. In total we must have been sitting around for at least an hour.

Eventually we went off, right at the foot of the division chasing a J15 women's quad. Our start was great and we hit our target rating with a nice rhythm very quickly and stormed through the first half of the race. At Ditton we spacked a bit before getting it back together and hauling in the quad, who'd started the reach about 4 lengths ahead. By the P&E we'd almost caught up another quad, this one full of schoolboys rather than schoolgirls, and instead of overtaking we did the nice thing and spacked a bit more to ensure we stayed behind and in their wash. They congratulated us afterwards and said that it'd been the first 'real head-on-head' race they'd ever had. Awwww.

Good racing generally, and surprisingly enjoyable for the first head piece of term. (Amelia)
This was quite fun, and surprisingly good for a scratch crew. Even the sitting around wasn't too bad. A good head piece marred only by a burst of latent incompetence at the end (trying to overtake a quad of small boys). (Erica)
