Miscellaneous men's IVs

Molesey Amateur Regatta (Senior2 IV+), FaT / BPBC composite

1st round
Lost to Thames/Furnivall (1 length)
Time: 3:10
A reasonable but short row to the start set up a reasonably relaxed feeling in the boat. We took a lead of a few seats on our start, and settled into a fairly chunky, smooth rhythm. However, our race pace just wasn't as fast as theirs, and they rowed back through us. We didn't cope very well with some wash about 200m in, and then had a bit of a shipwreck with about 250m to go. Chris reckoned this was his "most satisfying loss" ever. (JPD)

Molesey Amateur Regatta (Senior3 IV+), FaT / BPBC composite

1st round
Beat Curlew
A horribly early start (racing at 08:57) saw the first BPBC/1st & 3rd effort take to the water. On board were Henry Clouting, Rich Dewire, Graham Fisher and Matt Byrne, coxed by Sophie Rickards. The row down wasn't great and the less said about the first practice start the better, but in the end we splashed and scrambled our way to a win over a Curlew crew including Andrew Hogley. (Graham Fisher)
2nd round
Lost to Caius
The frenetic schedule continued, with the S3 IV+ racing just half an hour after the VIII. In the end, we rowed with a lot more togetherness than in the first race of the day, but it was a fatigued, sluggish performance and our scratch crew was comfortably outrowed by a mixture of Caius' 1st & 2nd VIIIs. Game over for the men's squad by 11a.m. (Graham Fisher)
