The Club's Results
Summer 2009
Cambridge Town Bumps
Tue 21st - Fri 24th July
Just like Bumps but for Town clubs, or alumni masquerading as such.
The Town clubs' summer equivalent of the Lent and May Bumps, entered by BPBC (rowing as City IV) for the first time in 2009.
Up 4 - Bumped Champion of the Thames (Gay), Cantabs VI, 99s IV and Rob Roy V
Peterborough Summer Regatta
Sat 8th August
A knock out multilane regatta over 1000m on the Peterborough City Rowing club rowing lake
A good summer venue with reasonable numbers and quality of opposition. There is a liver-poisoningly drunken party on the Saturday evening, usually involving naked rowing and pole climbing.
Peterborough Summer Sprint
Sun 9th August
A 4-lane 500m sprint on the Peterborough Rowing Lake.
A good chance to beat some quality opposition as they nurse their hangovers well into the afternoon.
Michell Cup
Mon 31st August
The Michell Cup, presented in 1923 in memory of Dr. R. W. Michell, is awarded by the CUCBC to the Boat Club giving the best performance on the river during the course of the academic year.
Points are awarded to Boat Clubs according to their performances in the CUCBC run-events. The rules governing the allocation of points can be found in Section 6 of the CUCBC Handbook.
Cambridge Autumn Regatta
Sun 13th September
600m side-by-side on the reach from the railway bridge to Ditton
One of the last regattas of the UK summer season, Cambridge Autumn is organised by the 99s. It's normally held too early in term to attract College rowers, but attracts rowers from the South East after one last pot.
Cambridge Small Boats Head
Sat 26th September
A 2600m timed head race for small boats (sculls, pairs, doubles and quads)
Being right at the start of term, it is unusual to see many college entries in this event.
Cambridge Alumni Regatta
Sun 27th September
A small regatta for old-boys (and girls!) crews organised by the University's Alumni Association and raced over about 600 m along the reach.
