Cambridge Small Boats Head

A 2600m timed head race for small boats (sculls, pairs and IVs)
Being right at the start of term, it is unusual to see many college entries in this event. We entered 4 men's training pairs.

Bedford Autumn Fours Head
Sun 15th October
A 2000m timed head race in Bedford
A few college senior IVs generally travel to Bedford for this race practice, and generally perform well.

Cambridge Autumn Head
Sat 28th October
A 2600m timed head race on the Cam
Attracting many town clubs and some college crews, the Autumn Head is a useful form guide for the upcoming University IVs.

Head of the River IVs
Sat 4th November
A National timed headrace on the tideway (Thames)
Some of the top College IVs generally compete in this large and challenging event.

University IVs
Mon 6th November
A knockout competition for Cambridge College IVs over 2800m (light IVs), 2000m (men's coxed IVs) or 1300m (women's coxed IVs)
For College senior crews, the most prestigious event of term, and the main focus of the first half of term for the better senior College crews

Cambridge Winter Head

A 2600m timed headrace on the Cam
Open to all clubs, for colleges the Winter Head is useful race practice for the 'Fairbairns', and the first experience of racing for some of the novice crews.

Clare Novice Regatta
Thu 23rd November
A side-by-side knock out regatta for Cambridge College novice (beginner) VIIIs
With just a week before Novice Fairbairns, the Clare Novice's offer all important race practice and exciting side by side racing. Most college novice VIIIs enter.

1st men's novice VIII (1st division): Raced 5 rounds: Won (about 5 lengths) against First and Third B in the final
Women's novice VIII A (1st division): Raced 5 rounds: Lost (4 lengths) to LMBC in the final
2nd men's novice VIII (1st division): Raced 5 rounds: Lost (5 or 6 lengths) to First and Third in the final
Women's novice VIII B (2nd division): Won against Clare B in the 1st round and Lost to Selwyn C in the 2nd round
3rd men's novice VIII (2nd division): Raced 4 rounds: Won against Queens B (2 lengths) but disqualified in the semi finals
4th men's novice VIII (2nd division): Raced 3 rounds: Lost (2 lengths) to Clare B in the 2nd round
5th men's novice VIII (2nd division): Lost (easily) against Queens B in the 1st round

Novice Fairbairn Cup
Thu 30th November
A 2700m timed head race on the Cam for Cambridge College novice VIIIs
The main focus for the term for all novices at Cambridge University - all novice crews (130 this year) enter

Fairbairn Cup
Fri 1st December
A 4300m timed head race on the Cam for College VIIIs
The main focus of the term for all Cambridge college senior crews - all senior college crews compete, and our best novice crews usually do too!

Fairbairn Cup - IVs
Fri 1st December
A 4300m timed head race on the Cam for College IVs
Subsidary to the VIIIs event, a handfull of college crews usually enter

Cambridge Rowing Triathlon
Sun 10th December
A race lasting over two hours comprising cycling, running and rowing
Being long after the end of term, there are just two college entries.
