Club Committee
2010-2011 Manifestos
Peter Ford - Secretary
I started rowing 7.5 years ago to get away from the rugby I was far too incompetent to enjoy, and have never looked back. Since that first fateful scratch fours outing a week before the rest of the freshers had even arrived, I have rowed for First and Third every term, as well as helping out with coaching and coxing (the latter with varying degrees of success...). I have rowed in M1, 2, 3 and 4, and coached various men's and women's boats, so I hope that I am a familiar face to most current members of First and Third.
So why me?
- I have demonstrated my commitment to the long-term success of the club by taking an active part in rowing throughout my time here.
- I know a large number of people in the rowing community, both on-Cam and in the wider UK; combined with extensive experience of racing at all levels, I think I will be able to organise race entries and off-Cam arrangements efficiently.
- I will do my best to keep the administrative details of running the boat club under control and therefore allow the other members of the committee to focus on their primary roles, including helping the new Sponsorship Officer find external support for the club. I have experience of the committee from my year as an LBC, and have spoken to Phil Preiss to gain more understanding of the tasks facing a boat club Secretary. If elected I would throw myself wholeheartedly into the role.
