Aaron Outhwaite
Manifesto - Kit and Social Secretary

Name: Aaron Outhwaite
Subject: Engineering
Year: 2nd
Noviced: 2007

On the social side of things, there are few people in the club who I don’t know and I would work well with any other committee members that are chosen. After the success of the great swap with LMBC, I aim to organise more swaps for the combined club (even away ones!), so that we all get a chance to make ourselves feel superior. I promise to organise and attend as many swaps as physically possible. The well established events that we all know and love (such as the fireworks watching and the garden party) will continue; I also intend to introduce new ones (film nights, pub races etc), particularly in Michaelmas in order to help integrate the novices into the club. As well as providing the customary Boatie cocktails in conjunction with the LBCs, I will organise a running barbeque for the first weekend of tubbing sessions. I will provide a different selection of drinks for any events in the WPR, not just the standard combination of vodka + something sweet (although this will probably still be available for those who want it), creating a more refined event befitting the ladies and gentlemen present.

As for kit, I intend (depending on what people think of it when it arrives) to expand the range of kit available from Pontoon. The fact that it will allow club members to order kit at any time if necessary is a huge advantage; I will still do a termly bulk order in time for the important races which will minimise shipping costs per item and hopefully reduce the amount members have to pay for basic kit even further. Judging by what is available for other clubs from Pontoon’s website and from what Sonya has told me the possibilities for new kit seem almost endless. I will also endeavour to provide a range of stylish stash for those like me who don’t think they wear enough blue and gold.
