Club Committee
2008-2009 Manifestos
Charles Franklin for Secretary:
What does the job involve?
The essence of the Secretary's role is to ensure that all off-water affairs run smoothly, leaving the Captains free to concentrate on making us the fastest club in Cambridge. This includes: taking care of race entries and members' bills; organising dinners; keeping the club's accounts and chairing the committee.
Why me?
Organisation:
During my year as JT I have organised various boat club events, including last term's boat burning. As a result I am now used to getting things done and dealing with the college authorities, and will ensure that all events are arranged in good time and are run to everybody's satisfaction.
Accounting:
Having worked for an investment bank and run the JT account for a year, I will be a safe pair of hands for the boat club's accounts. I understand the importance of keeping accurate records and intend to carry on Magnus' excellent work in this department.
Responsibility:
During my time on the committee I have always been willing to take additional responsibility when necessary. As Secretary I would provide support to the Captains at all times, and especially when things inevitably get stressful.
In summary, I am reliable, approachable and well-organised - a claim which I believe is supported by my time as JT. I have talked to Magnus and understand what the job involves and I consider myself a highly capable candidate.
