2007-2008 Manifestos

Hannah Jackson for Kit and Social Secretary

I'm Hannah and I'm standing for KSS. I Started rowing in the Mich term 2005 with the 1st novice women and then continued to row with the 2nd women in the May term of that year. More recently, I've been rowing with the blade winning 2nd VIII (who are undoubtedly the fittest 2nd women's crew on the Cam!) For those of you that don't know, I am a second year histo, thus the almost compulsory non-attendance of lectures and general lack of work means I will have the time to be, I believe, an awesome KSS for FaT.

Kit:

Kit wise I would maintain the successful relationship with Talking T's and JL; ordering that essential Lycra and stash well in time for important race dates.

I would also hope to secure the set up of the new online kit ordering service with JL (a facility to order kit direct from the JL website, saving the complications of cheques in pigeon holes etc thereby making life easier and simpler for us all.)

In terms of kit I would definitely want to make some additions to the order. In particular: Tracksuit bottoms in navy and gold. Harry has already started organising their purchase this term and I would negotiate a more reasonable price than is being currently offered. Also, for the girls, I would be extremely keen to investigate the possibility of floral Lycra in navy and gold (obviously with cat 'n' buns!)

Social:

On the social front, I would continue the tradition of freshers cocktails, working closely with the LBC's in order to attract new novices. I also promise to hold a party on Fireworks night; post boat club dinner bops as well as a garden party in May term. All of which will be fully supplied with food, music and more importantly alcohol! As the current WoT ents officer I have the skills and experience required to make these events effortless fun for you guys. Alongside this previous committee experience, I have experience in organising successful socials (in particular in terms of ordering drinks, securing venues and booking bands/music.)

Although I appreciate that Drumps has presented problems in the past, I don't believe that it should be completely disregarded, as it is an event that could be awesome fun. In terms of sorting these problems I propose to do it outside college perhaps making it pub crawl-esq in style.

I promise to keep the all important termly boat club formals. Furthermore, I would consider organising a FaT/ Black Prince formal to continue to maintain relationships with past members of the club, which I believe to be especially important given how many current members are leaving this year. Over my 2 years as a FaT boatie I have been heavily involved in maintaining good relations with other college crews and therefore could ensure successful formal swaps.

Overall, I believe I would be an organised and hardworking KSS, who would work well with the rest of the committee. My almost unhealthy love of stash, alongside my work hard play harder attitude makes me the KSS for FaT.
