2007-2008 Manifestos

My name is Charley Bates and I'm a 2nd year economicist. I rowed for the 1st novice women and then for the "victorious" W3 in Lent term. I started rowing because my friends made me, and I carried on because I love the lycra and the socials.
I like doughnuts.

My name is Rachel Croft. I am a second year vet. I rowed with 1st novice women and got blades with the Lent's W2. I will hopefully be studying part IA maths next year so will be able to encourage lots of freshers to sign up and will have lots of free time to spend atbh!
I like doughnuts.

My name is Liz Hill and I'm a first year mathmo. I rowed for the 1st novice women and then the 3rd women's Lent term. I started rowing because my friends were and I wanted to get stash with my name on the back.
I like doughnuts.

My name is Alex and I am a first year engineer. I rowed with the third novice women and the historic and sexy 3rd Lent women's VIII. I started rowing because I wanted to do a sport in which you get to sit down all of the time. I continued rowing because of the drinking/men/drunk men.
I like sausages.

Recruitment:

  1. Chaplain's Squash - eye-catching stand with hot boatie guys/girls, stickers, balloons, wearing lots of cool stash
  2. Fresher's Week: knocking on doors, flyers under doors/in pigeon holes, helping organise Boatie Cocktails, loud conversations about how awesome rowing is at all times, talking to college kids/random freshers in the bar
  3. Enthusiasm!

Novice Term

  1. Get them keen!
  2. Formal swaps (inter-college and within club), team bonding, crew pastas
  3. Continue advertising - Facebook groups, posters etc
  4. Tubbing, coached ergs, costal IVs, VIIIs - working with mLBCs
  5. Getting people into crews asap to encourage team spirit, crew bonding, having fun, stash
  6. Aim to get 3 women's novice crews

Lents and Mays

  1. Training camp - integration with senior rowers and maturing technique
  2. Continuing socials and fun stuff

We're really keen on becoming wLBCs because we've had such a great time rowing this year and we want others to have as much fun as we've had.
