Club Committee
2006-2007 Manifestos
Phil Horler for Secretary
I am committed to the boat club and have a strong desire for it to be as successful as possible. The role of secretary is crucial in achieving this goal, working hard with the captains to ensure the club is going in the right direction.
If elected, I would:
- Continue Dan’s work to rebuild a relationship with the catering department and ensure crew hall is reinstated.
- Organise a dinner each term and negotiate the best price possible for members.
- Make race entries as early as possible.
- Build on what I have learned in an accountancy course taken this year and fully maintain the club accounts.
- Maintain the ARA incident log book, and ensure all members know when and how to use it.
- Arrange regular committee meetings, keeping accurate minutes, and make sure our marshaling requirements are fulfilled.
My time as lower boats captain in 2004-2005 gave me a valuable insight into the running of the boat club and the commitment that is required from its members both on and off the water. In addition, this responsibility taught me the importance of being an adaptable and communicative member of the committee - skills that, if elected, I would bring to the role of Secretary.
