Katie Birley

The plan:
- Recruit loads of freshers by any means possible... bribery mainly, but we.re not scared to resort to blackmail. We aim to have four novice boats.
- To impress them with the boat club social life so much that they never want to leave. Oh, and rowing is good fun too.
Recruitment
We will liaise with the men's LBCs. Recruitment will hopefully start before term by putting a leaflet in the Freshers pack. It will continue into Freshers. Week, which is the most important time.
Our first focus will be the Chaplain's Squash and we will need to have an eye-catching stand. Our ideas are: give out sweets, display personalised kit e.g. our novice fairbairns shirts and photos of the boat clubs finest members.
We plan on taking advantage of having friends in TCSU and push as many events as possible onto the Freshers timetable.
Novice Training
This will be short erg and tubing sessions to start with. Again we will liaise with the men's LBCs. The aim is to have two novices rowing and one coxing along with two LBCs. This should lead to more people being exposed to coxing and hopefully be more people taking it up.
Training will then make use of the coastal IV before moving to VIIIs. Crew selection will take place after Queens. ergs. We really want to encourage crew spirit so crew pastas and kit will be encouraged.
Stopping them escaping...
We will show them all First and Third love. There should be a club formal early in term so they can meet the seniors and feel involved. Then organise formal swaps with other clubs. novices.
Ra Ra First and Third!
