The First and Third website turned eighteen years of age this spring. In its prime it was a centrepiece of the rowing community and a social networking pioneer; it continues to be a valuable repository of club records, and host to our live results services. However, it faces growing competition from outfits such as the rowing messageboards, Facebook and Cam FM. I believe that the website must adapt to stay relevant, and if elected I will work closely with the new committee to decide how to move forward. The past year has been more difficult than anticipated, in part due to the server failure in Michaelmas term, but also because it took some time to learn how to administer the website. These issues should not recur next year. My first priority will be to finish implementing Raven authentication, in time for our hopefully many new members to register for and use the website more simply than ever.
