JP Morgan generously provides the club with funds to be used for purchases of equipment and for the general running of the club. Without these, we would be unable to continue to enjoy the same level of success and quality of facilities that we do. However, we are lucky to receive far more than just this. The novices take part in their first race of the year on the river at the Winter Head, where for the first time they wear official boat club kit. The hundred or so novice T-shirts are all free, courtesy of JP Morgan. In Lent term 2006, JP Morgan gave a quantity of kit to the senior squad. The Men's and Women's Lent VIIIs both received high quality splashtops, which can be seen in the photos on this page. In addition, fleeces were to be given to the top three men's and top two women's VIIIs. At that time the 3rd men's VIII had not yet been selected, so a set of fleeces was still up for grabs... You can read about a keenly contested race for the right to wear them here. No one around during that term could have failed to notice the prominence of 'stash' around college and at the river! The academic year 2005-2006 was a successful one for the club, culminating in a Michell Cup victory. This trophy is awarded annually to the college boat club giving the best performances over the year, and rewards consistency throughout the boat club. It is therefore particularly hard for a large boat club to win it, and our first triumph in nearly a decade was indicative of how strong the club had been in that year. It was also our first year with our new sponsor, and JP Morgan kindly hosted a drinks evening in celebration. We are very grateful for such great support from JP Morgan and hope that our relationship and results will continue to be as happy and successful as those in our first year together!
