Congratulations to Steph Richards who coxed Leander to victory in the prestigious Ladies Plate at Henley on Sunday. They won against Harvard by 3/4 of a length. The Ladies Plate is the top event for club crews; it is the 2nd event for VIIIs, beneath the Grand which is for national crews.
Steph novice coxed with First and Third in 1999 and was cox of Goldie in 2002.
Simon B has posted a photo from JET and also sent me this amusing link. |

Tom C said: Mr Law's Henley winning should not go unmentioned... Iain Law, our chief coach and boatman, was a winner in the Vet B quads at Henley Veterans Regatta this year, rowing for St Ives...
"I was a last minute replacement for the usual stroke man of the quad who had suffered muscle spasms in his chest. I don't think anyone was more surprised than me & the other guys by our progress/success - we managed to win our races fairly comfortably (or at least we weren't dying/suffering horribly by the end!). Don't know if we had an "easy" year or not, but after over 25 yrs of rowing it's nice to get a Henley medal of some sort - even if I am a bit old and slow for the Diamonds these days!"
We've found a photo of their final which is in the gallery. |
