2nd men's VIII, 1st division

15th fastest college men's VIII, 9th fastest in 1st Mays
Time: 9:38

Rather pedestrian-like effort. We never really got into top gear, which was evident in how easily Fitz were able to overtake us. Much to improve, and improve we shall. (Sam Z)

Meh, there's potential... But we need more than that, hard works starts now. (Lorry)

Bit of a stroll down the long reach lost us a good time, but this crew has potential and won't rest easy until we start bumping on June 13th.

On the plus side Caius did shite. (Martin Y)

TDC in his single scull, Novice 1x

Winner of Men's Novice 1x

Fancied another run out after the unsatisfying conclusion to small boats. This time I went solo and looked over my shoulder occasionally, which worked pretty well until the last 300 (unsurprisingly). After I'd left a reasonable gap the start marshal told me to get a move on unless I thought I was significantly faster than the chap in front. So to avoid looking like a tosser I set off. The first half was pretty smooth, but then I caught up with the wash and lost it a bit. By the finish I was only a few lengths down and thus the wind up was completely ineffectual. Anyway, I beat the 11 minute target, so I can leave pike alone for now. (Tom C)

3rd men's VIII, Men's Other Mays

23rd fastest college men's VIII, 8th fastest in Other Mays
Time: 11:20

With a wide range of previous experience including a couple of new novices this was a real gutsy performance.

They started ahead of a fairly neat looking 99's crew (including our esteemed coach Mr. Ingram). As the crew behind started to catch up with us, the boys put in a realy effort to hold them off, as the boat speed picked up massively from the pink house to Morley's Holt.

Unfortunately the 99's crew finally overtook, with a quick looking fitz II following and this was too much for the guys, their massive push having taken it's toll and the frustration of two crews overtaking them in a short space of time meant that for the last couple of hundred metres the heads dropped and the focus went.

All in all a great effort from the guys, over a long course, for the first race of term, a great effort, if you can get that speed to repel crews behind... bring on mays :D (Lorry)
