Rachel Wolf - Coxing Captain
My role as Coxing Captain would be
- To work with the Lower Boats Captains to recruit coxes during Freshers' week both at the Boat Club Squash and in general
- To find out about and recruit any new experienced coxes
- To find personal coaches for each of the coxes in order to get them to a safe standard as rapidly as possible
- To arrange separate coaches for various outings after coxes have been selected for novice crews with the sole purpose of directing and assisting the novice cox
- To prevent breakdown in communication between cox and coach, and address any issues the cox may have about insufficient advice or feedback
- To monitor the state of coxing equipment in the boathouse. Should there be any damage, I would try and prevent blame from being misdirected
- To represent the interests and concerns of First and Third coxes at the committee meetings
Why I am qualified
- I novice coxed in Michaelmas term of 2003, so I am extremely familiar with the various problems and concerns new coxes are likely to have
- Although I will probably cox at a low level next year, I do not intend to compete for any of the top boats, so I will not have a personal interest in decisions
- I am aware of the wealth of experience and talent in the boathouse, and I fully intend to seek the advice of members who have more experience than I do.
