Kit and Social Secretary - Iain Edwards

I am a First-year Classicist who has been an active member of First & Third for the whole of the year, rowing in the 2nd Fairbairn VIII and the 3rd Lent VIII. Over the course of the year I have attended almost all social events, and as such I believe I have enough experience and enthusiasm to organize a busy social calendar. Furthermore, after several years of rowing at school and university I have great experience with rowing kit and believe I can provide a diverse choice in regular orders.

As Kit & Social Secretary I propose to:

  • Continue regular kit orders, but with an improvement in delivery times through
  • selecting more efficient suppliers.
  • Increase the range of available kit.
  • Improve the website Kit page, to add a better indication of size and look of items.
  • Look into the coordination of crew t-shirt orders with a view to reducing price.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of all kit.
  • Organise regular and frequent fonnal halls with other college crews, open to members of all crews.
  • Arrange regular Club Formals & other events, including a revival ofDrumps.
  • Organise regular meetings of the Justice.
  • Liaise with other college societies for shared buying of supplies for Bops and other events in order to reduce price.
  • Communicate more with members of the Club regarding opinions and demands on both aspects of the job.
  • It is my intention to ensure that First & Third look good on the water, and have fun elsewhere, to improve morale and the retention of novice rowers.
