Club Committee

2009-2010 Manifestos

Rachel Croft - Kit and Social Secretary

For those of you who don’t know me I noviced in 2006 and then rowed for the University for the last two years, returning for Mays. I was an LBC in 2007-8 so have experience of the boat club committee. I am also in charge of the university wind orchestra, so have experience of how other societies run.

Kit

Everyone knows that kit is one of the most important things - matching kit makes you go faster!

I will decide whether to continue to use JL or to start using Pontoon Sports as our provider based on cost and quality to ensure that everyone gets kit that is the best value for money.

I will look into the possibility of placing an extra order at the end of Michaelmas term so that novices can order kit in time for the whole of Lent term, rather than just for bumps.

Social

I have had a lot of experience helping organise and run boat club events such as the freshers’ cocktails, fireworks party, a Christmas party and the bops from when I was an LBC, so know exactly what is needed in preparation for such events and how to make them run smoothly. I have a car in Cambridge which is useful for getting provisions for all these events. I also have a good relationship with the porters which helps keep us on the right side of all the college officials and they know that I’ll make sure everything gets cleaned up from all the bops...

There will obviously be plenty of boatie swaps and club formals and I have lots of contacts at other colleges which will be help make sure that there are as many of these as people want and if there are particular requests, then you only have to let me know!
