KSS Manifesto for 2008/2009

I am Sonya, a first year historian. I have noviced in Michaelmas 2007, am currently the cox of the 3rd Mens VIII and am running for Kit and Social Secretary.

Kit

Kit order will remain easy and simple through the online system. I will make sure that all members are informed about it well in advance and it is ordered and paid early enough so that we get the pretty navy and gold kit in time for the major races. Furthermore I will be open to any suggestions about new items on the order list to satisfy all your needs.

Social

I think that socials are an essential part of being a rower and we rightly use them as a way to attract new members in Michaelmas. Therefore in the first term I will organise the traditional Freshers Drinks to get as many novices as possible. During the term I will keep organising events to integrate the freshers with the senior crew members as the Fireworks party or a club Formal.
I want to make club formals a termly event as gatherings of all club members are great and should be done more often than just at the end of term dinner.
Furthermore I will organise and coordinate formal swaps with other colleges as these are a lot of fun as well as enable us to meet other college's rowers off the Cam.
The main event of every term is be the Boat Club Dinner and the Bop afterwards. In the WPR I will provide you with a lot of colourful drinks and cheesy music so that we all have an unforgettable evening!

As a Kit and Social Secretary I will cooperate with the other committee members to run the boat club smoothly. I will provide rowers with the essential kit and the all the fun that's a part of Cambridge rowing. Yet I want to make sure that we keep our social events as unproblematic as possible to maintain good relationships with college and not give the boat club and rowing a bad name.
