Andrew Sugden, Martin Yarr, Lorry Carr, Will Laffan - Men’s Lower Boats Captains 2006/07
After a strong novicing term, all four of us won university blades in the Forth Lent VIII. Will is currently in the Second Mays VIII whilst Martin and Lorry are in the Third May VIII. Andy was the race secretary for this year’s Second Trinity Challenge Sculls, introducing a new event and managing a very successful race day. Martin is also a keen sculler.

- Progression through the coastal four and on to eights with timetable based on how well novices progress.
- Continuous crew evaluation with emphasis on technique.
- Provide our crews with as much race practise as possible in events such as the Winter Head and Clare Novices Regatta in preparation of Fairbairns.
- Liaising with KSS and other college LBCs to arrange more formal swaps/bops.
Lent/May Term
- Prepare early for term, building on our team of coaches
- Liaise with Men’s Captain early on to form squads/crews
- For all boats, emphasis on technique with fitness training for top crews as we see fit
- Aim to accommodate all levels of participation
- Enter crews in competitions such as Pembroke Regatta and other such events in the term to provide more race practise
- Prepare crews for bumps races to build upon the strong position FaT lower boats occupy in the Lents and Mays.
- Ask for feedback from coaches, rowers and coxes on their progression.
- Continue to liaise with coxing captain to prepare coxes for the upcoming bumps
- Maintain strong social scene - rowing is fun!!
After the success of the current LBCs, we hope to carry on with the high levels of success First and Third has had in the lower boats. Having rowed (and "bonded!") together, we know we can work constructively as a team for the duration of the year.
